Albert was born and bred in Pretoria. He studied jazz at the Tshwane University of Technology and was a finalist in the “RSG Groentjie” category of the 2005 “Geraas Toekennings”. At the young age of 20 his debut album “Dagboek van ‘n Dromer” was released in 2006, creating uproar in the Afrikaans music industry due to the young artist’s unique and exceptional compositions. “Dagboek van ‘n Dromer” was a highly successful debut album and was nominated for SAMA-, Huisgenoot-Tempo, Vonk an MK Awards.

In 2008 Albert had enormous success with the release of his second album “3 Jaar”. “3 Jaar” was also nominated for a SAMA- and MK Award and Albert’s song “Wat het gebeur by Aliwal-Noord” won the Song of the Year award at the Vonk Awards. By defeating veterans in the Afrikaans music industry, such as Steve Hofmeyer, Chris Chameleon, Kurt Darren and Juanita Du Plessis, Albert firmly established himself as one of South Africa’s foremost Afrikaans artists.

The “3 Jaar” Album also included the theme song for the most successful Afrikaans teen comedy movie named “Bakgat”. Albert wrote and sang the song on special request from the director and producer.  2010 is a milestone for Albert. Not only did he release the critically acclaimed album “Die Vensters na my Siel” but he also released his first full length English album named “Highway to your Heart”. With songs such as “Highway to your heart”, “Beautiful woman”, “All I Need” and “Within Walls” Albert has firmly established himself as an immensely versatile artist who can successfully cross language barriers with absolute ease. Within 4 years Albert has cemented himself into the South African music industry, developed a reputation as one of the most promising young artists in South Africa and is without a doubt here to stay.
